Victorian c. 1870 Etruscan Revival Garnet Cabochon 18K Gold Locket Brooch Pendant
This wonderful circa 1870 Victorian 18 carat gold pendant features a round central garnet cabochon of exceptional color and quality. The back is locket set and currently empty, showing the interior of the locket. It can be worn as both a brooch and a pendant - two pieces of jewelry in one!
Created in the Etruscan Revival style, this beautiful piece was inspired by discovery of gold works by ancient civilizations at archaeological digs during the 19th century sparking the "fad" for these "classical" style pieces.
