Victorian C. 1860 German Bear Paw Sardonyx and Gold Signet Ring
This striking antique Victorian-era signet ring features a wonderful heraldic symbol- (which originated as identification devices on flags and shields, are called armorial bearings) a bear paw! Used in German coats of arms, the furry arm sticks up and ends with large claws. A wonderful symbol of strength and courage!
This classic oval signet ring is beautifully carved in sardonyx - this two tone agate allows an image to be carved into it, exposing the red-pink underlayer. Dating to circa 1860, it is a fantastic example of mid-19th century jewelry design. Set in a 14k yellow gold. Originally a man's ring, it has a timeless unisex styling that is perfect for all genders today.

Dimensions: Signet measures 9 mm wide by 11.4 mm tall. Band measures 3mm wide at the narrowest.
Condition: In good antique condition. There was a previous crack that has been repaired that is visible on the face of the signet. Signet is secure in setting. Evidence of resizing on the band.
