A beautiful antique late 18th Century Georgian black enamel and gold mourning brooch. Set on the front with a gold and enamel frame inscribed "Mary Aylett Ob. 28 Apr 1791 AET 48" and set with braided brown hair under crystal. To the reverse an additional but related gold panel and inscription reads "Wm. Aylett Ob. 22 Jan 1796 at 52" most likely commemorating a husband and wife.

A beautiful oval shape it is set with a replacement pin back. A wonderful collectors piece and rare surviving example from the 1700s.

Dimensions: Brooch measures 1.2 inches long by .7 inches wide.

Weight: 6.2 grams

Condition: In good antique condition. Minor damage to enamel. Some surface scratches to crystal. Gold tests as at least 10k - some areas have higher purity. Pin back later replacement. Additional images and video available upon request.
