Georgian C. 1780 Flat Cut Garnet and Pearl Pendant Brooch
A spectacular example of 18th century jewelry design from the Iberian Peninsula ( Spain / Portugal)! Very rare to be found in this condition, this ornate pendant brooch was probably converted from another piece of jewelry, either a pendant drop on a necklace or an earringand dates to the end of the 18th century circa 1780, . If features numerous flat cut foil back garnets set in gold in a rub over setting. In addition the piece is set with fresh water pearls throughout and a replacement synthetic pearl to the top. Set with a later gilt brooch fitting, it can also be strung with a chain to wear as a necklace.
Dimensions: Brooch/ Pendant measures 2.2 inches high by 1.3 inches wide.
Condition: In good antique condition. Some wear and scratches commensurate with age. Two of the garnets cracked and small abrasions to some settings. Top pearl is synthetic replacement. Additional photos and videos are available upon request. We accept returns for any reason within 14 days.
