This rare piece of Georgian jewelry dates from the late 18th century - circa 1780-90 and features one of the most sought after materials of the period, black dot paste. Paste stones, a form of leaded glass made to resemble gemstones, were all the rage at this period with even the English royal family ordering suites of jewelry in paste. This version, black dot paste, features small black dots at the bottom of the stone in order to mimic the natural effect of looking through a diamond. This beautiful brooch is made in a beautiful high relief floral shape. Wonderful as it is but also a stunning pinned to a ribbon and worn at the neck!
